| About this Site |
This site was started in June 2002, by John Caradimas (the maintainer of The M-1911 Pistols Home Page, or M1911.ORG, located at http://www.m1911.org) and Robin Brown (a knife instructor and PI), in order to provide web surfers with information about fighting folding knives (or folders, as they are called). John is Greek and Brownie is American, so now you understand the reason behind the two flags on the top banner of the site.
Our ambition is to make this site, the premier on-line resource for folding knives, in the same way M1911.ORG is now recognized as the premier on-line reference for M-1911 style pistols. Please keep in mind that this site, like M1911.ORG, is a totally amateur effort, with no commercial interest.
This document is a guideline, written to facilitate your visit to this site.
First of all, in order to best experience the "Tactical Fighting Folders Site", your system should be adjusted for 1024x768 mode, using (if possible) more than 256 colors. Also, Javascript should be enabled.
The site is still pretty new, judge it accordingly. So far, the following sections have been added:
| Introductory Page | After you come to our "welcome" page, and get in the site by clicking on the crossed folders, you see our main operating environment. On the left side, you will see our menu, from where you select the areas of the site you want to visit. In the main area, you can read the latest site and market news. On the right, you can see the banners of our sponsors. Happy navigating! |
| Site Index | This is the page you are reading now. |
| Introduction | An introductory page, which shows a novice visitor, the main parts of a tactical folding knife. |
| Terminology | A section where a visitor can learn the proper terminology applying to folding and fixed-blade knives. |
| Manufacturers | In this section, the visitors will be able to find all the folders that the various manufacturers have to offer. This is the section that will grow more than any one else, as too many folders in the market today, and more appear every year. It has already more than 25 manufacturers and growing rapidly. |
| Monthly Tests | In this section, the visitors will hopefully be able to find tests of various fighting/tactical folders. In order for that to become a reality, we need to make this site a success, i.e. to have a steady and significant number of hits per day, like the M1911.ORG does. So, if you want us to be able to show you tests, keep coming back to this site! |
| Technical Issues | Here you will be able to find technical information, related to the folding knife technology. Our knife expert, Brownie, will be adding material here, based on his knowedge and on the questions we will receive from visitors. |
| Errata | Various reading material, related to knives and folders, for your reading pleasure. |
| Web Links | Hopefully, this will grow to become the most comprehensive list of cutlery-related web sites. |
| Literature | Here, we will add references to knife- and folder-related books. |
| Discussion Areas | If you want to join our mailing list or to go to our Discussion Forum, select this option. |
| Search Engine | Use this section to search through the various sections and pages of this site. An easy to use search engine, to facilitate your navigation. |
| John's collection | In this section, John describes his folders collection, as well as his impressions from various knife-related firms. |
| About our Expert | A few words about our knife expert, Robin Brown (or Brownie) are added here, so that you know whom you are dealing with. |
| About your Host | If you want to find out who your host is, please read this section. |
More sections will be added soon, as we collect material and information for you, so stop by often.
